Why choose Sandford Language Institute for your Arabic tuition? in addition to having an excellent tutor, being an exam centre for the Arabic Language Proficiency Test ALPT, we also offer and run all levels for adult students from beginner to advanced levels which is very important if you intend on continuing on from beginner level and intend on reaching a high standard of modern standard Arabic.

We also offer separate weekday & weekend classes for secondary school students from beginner level onwards.Preparation for Arabic Leaving Cert.Exam also offered.

For Latecomers* If a course you wish to join has started, it may still be possible to join, if you are a total beginner, we can arrange a catch up class to cover what you have missed (included in the full course fee) if you are not a beginner there wont be a need for a catch up class. The Sandford Language Institute has been running courses in Arabic since 1989. Mariana our excellent tutor, is a native Arabic speaker, she is a qualified teacher and highly experienced. Teaching the communicative use of the language and making it as relevant as possible to every day situations. All of the main language skills of Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking and Use of language (Grammar) are developed in class. Enrolment for the upcoming term is now possible. Arabic Level 1 October 2017For beginners
Arabic Level 1 Beginners September 2017 .Arabic level 1 Description Level 1 (complete beginners) It is a course for complete beginners, for students who have no previous knowledge of the Arabic script or/and the Modern Standard Arabic.

Each session covers everyday conversation topics, learning the alphabet, reading and basic grammar. We follow the Mastering Arabic book 1 and Activity book, this course covers chapters (1-6) a test could be done on request. A- Topics of conversation: - Arabic greetings - Introducing ourselves and family members -Meeting someone for the first time -Discussing jobs -Describing the place we live in and the work place -Basic conversation in a shop -Basic conversation in a restaurant -Learning common Arabic expressions for different situations B- Writing and reading: The students learn the Arabic Alphabet (letters, vowels, signs), how to read and write. We recommend the Gateway to Arabic 1 book to practice writing. C- Grammar: This course covers the very basics in Arabic Grammar: -Nominal sentences in the Nominative case - Demonstratives (singular, masculine, feminine) -Masculine and feminine nouns -Adjectives (masculine/feminine) -Personal pronouns -The attached possessive pronouns (singular) -Sound masculine plural -Sound feminine plural -Definite/indefinite -Introduction to the 3 Arabic grammatical cases: 1- Nominative 2- Accusative 3- Genitive -Writing basic sentences. : we recommend

Arabic Level 2 October 2017For students who have completed abeginners course with Sandford Language Institute (18 hours tuition) or elsewhere.
Arabic Level 2 August 2017 Level 2 Course Description: This course is for students who have completed Level 1 in Sandford or elsewhere. Students need to know the Arabic  Alphabet, Arabic script, basic reading and writing. In terms of vocabulary and conversation, they need to be able to have a basic everyday conversation and master some vocabulary related to their surroundings. The course covers Chapters 7-13 in Mastering Arabic 1.  In vocabulary we cover the following topics in details: -The city (places in town) -Countries, capital cities and the Arab world (culture) -The weather -Food  -Travel -Hobbies and everyday tasks In Grammar: -Broken plurals  -Adjectives and Adjectives of Nationality -Numbers 1-100 -The Past tense -Interrogative sentences -Adverbs -Further learning of the Nominative/Accusative and Genitive cases Conversation: -Describe your city using places, prepositions of space and adjectives -Discussing countries, cities and nationalities -Tell a story in the Past tense -Role play: -Conversation at the grocer's -Conversation in an Arabic Souk -Discussing a menu with the waiter
Arabic Level 3 Autumn 2017 Arabic Level 3 Course Description : For students who have completed around 40 hours of Modern Standard Arabic. We use Mastering Arabic book 1 and this level covers chapters 14 till 19. The students at this higher beginners level should be able to read, write and understand consistent paragraphs with more complex structures. There is a lot of grammar involved at this level: the Present and Future tenses, the comparative/superlative, broken plurals, the different forms of the verbs, weak verbs (irregularities in Arabic verbs). Conversation become more specific and centred around certain themes: comparing a past situation and a current one using comparatives, past and present verbs. Talking about future plans: holidays, work projects, etc. Discussing everyday tasks using verbs and adverbs of the present tense. Days of the week Months of the year Reading a blog/ diary Writing emails to friends/family
Arabic Level 2 May 2017 (22.05 - 04.09.2017)For students who have completed a Beginners Course at Sandford Language Institute or elsewhere.
Arabic Level 3 September 2017 Arabic Level 3 Course Description : For students who have completed around 40 hours of Modern Standard Arabic. We use Mastering Arabic book 1 and this level covers chapters 14 till 19. Arabic Level 4 Summer Term 2017Arabic Level 4 Course Description: Equivalent of an A2 Level in European Framework. For students who have completed about 60 hours of Modern Standard Arabic and covered all the basics. Students should be able to read and write long paragraphs of a more or less complex syntax. They should have learnt the Past, present and Future tenses. Students should have acquired a wide range of everyday vocabulary. We cover at this level the five first chapters of Mastering Arabic 2, this course focuses more on vocabulary and conversation (as basic grammar should have been already covered). We discuss childhood, activities, hobbies, jobs, situations in an airport, in the street, reading a map, asking for directions etc The vocabulary at this level is quite high and specific comparing to the previous levels.
